Lets talk about Love Island

This was never a program I watched, no snobbery as I was a huge fan of Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother so it wasn’t that.  Not too sure why I hadn’t tuned in before, most of my girl friends, work colleagues, acquaintances have/do.

With a lot of time on my hands and the new season kicked off it was EVERYWHERE on Facebook and I am a nosey so I had to check it out.

I couldn’t sleep, it was 2am so I decided to load up Netflix and put on Season 1 episode 1.  Two days later I had watched the whole season :O it is car crash tv and compelling viewing, my o/h was horrified (he never watches anything like that).

So, weeks later I have now seen season 1, season 2 and all caught up on the current season.  Can’t seem to find season 3 anywhere.

So, social media is a storm with opinions, celebs included, Charlotte from Geordie Shore in tears over comments about doctor Alex which then seen her be targeted by trolls.

My opinions are like most peoples, they vary episode to episode.  I think you need to remember it is 24 hours into less than an hours viewing.   Much coverage from eagle eyed fans on spotted errors, staging and even comments from past contestants have shown how things are manipulated or asked to be re shot.  Most notably, that kiss between Jack and Georgia  *gasp*

I hate the “old” comments aimed at original Laura, she is 29 guys that is not old and regardless of her age some of the things said are awful.

Much as I am not a Megan fan, some of the hate and bile flung her way has been horrific.

Jack and Dani are really cute, I love some of the things Jack comes away with.

Georgia is loyal doncha know, I love the Royal mail meme, harmless and funny.

I don’t know about you guys but this season compared to one and two has been very tame?  Not much in the way of matching up quotes, showing them footage of each other (not showing the kiss between Georgia and Jack?) even the tweets had been really tame.

But I do love reality tv (I cannot watch the jungle, eating live bugs give me the actual boak), my other half loathes it.

Who are you rooting for?  Who is your winners?  What would you love to see in the way of tasks?

Reminiscing

Good Lord!

One song comes on the radio, or YouTube by user selection *excuse me* and it flings you back to your youth whether you wish it or not!

So we had a small part of N SYNC, yes really! which then led on to Hanson *MBop*, Spice Girls, Mark Morrison AKA Return of the Mack, Back Street Boys………………………..etc etc form an  orderly line please we have descended into anarchy!

What brings more shame?  I am an educated individual however, give me a sniff of ethanol and I am shipped back to 1995, bad decisions, questionable music and I am transported back to a time with no social ties, responsibilities or iota of giving a crap!

Next thing you know I am on Twitter/Instagra/Facebook, hunting down said celebs and putting forth ridiculous scenarios before passing out on the couch!

Welcome to middle age, where the night of indulgence with is fabulous and whey hey and the next morning is crawling into your work suit and not making straight eye contact with any of your social media because you know you have mortified yourself yet on some level still not caring.  Go 1995 me, you were epic, 2017 me you are a cog in the machine and what my 1995 me would call a “pure riddy”!.

Fake tan

Is it just me or is the world of fake tan an absolute landmine?  And by that I mean you are an absolute winner or complete disaster, all over, in pieces!?!?!?

I paid a professional to sort me out with a fake tan.  Context, it was for my wedding and I PAID for the privilege.  This was a well respected salon, years of experience and I was an absolute beginner (nails also butchered but that is another story), however I KNEW to go for a trial run, this was for my big day after all.  I had patches, don’t get me wrong, the colour was lovely but I had streaks and patches missing.  I also took my bridesmaid in (she was a self tanner expert), she also had issues.  In the end, I opted out, they refunded and gave my bridesmaid two free sessions however I wasn’t for it.  Your wedding has no room for Fake Tan errors, once it is on it takes a fair amount of time/industrial cleaning stripper to get that stuff off!

I used to tamper with those tinted moisturizers and recently went back to them, unless you know what you are doing…………………….patches galore.  AND you don’t know how bad your application is until hours later when it has developed.  My Ex boyfriend was fabulous at applying moisturizer/tan, me myself, not so much.

The Royal Family

Apologies for any kind of quote or acknowledgement to the Daily Mail however I did see an article about Princes Harry and William.  Acknowledging their last interaction with their mother and now, in retrospect, they would have said things differently.  As it would be their ever interaction with their mother 😦

 

Isn’t that just the saddest thing.  We all look back on interactions we would have and have had with loved ones.  Things we would have said, wished we had said, had we known that was going to be our last interaction.

 

I feel for these boys/men.  By age they are absolutely men, by situation, it takes them back to their child state of who they where when they lost their mother.  Most of us get to deal with and acknowledge out grief privately, not so for these lads.  Scrutinized by  the press and public, mostly (that I have read) favorably, but still how private is sorrow/grief to us, general you and me *us* and how we struggle.  Harry and William are human beings and still everything will be scrutinized in the press and reported.  Yes they may have agreed to an interview but still, I just think God, imagine trying to deal with your own personal grief and then have hundreds, thousands maybe even millions commenting on it.  You are doing it wrong, doing it right, this is ok but this isn’t!

Just my two bobs worth.  I know many celebs embrace the “life” and their children/siblings automatically get pulled in.  I just think, when it comes to grief, there is nothing more private and yet it is out there for all to see, comment on, speculate and even judge.  Like you *generalised you* don’t have enough to deal with!
